Newcastle have signed defender Danny Simpson on loan from Premier League champions Manchester United until January.
The 22-year-old defender has agreed a deal with the Championship club that will keep him at St James' Park until the new year.
Simpson has already enjoyed loan spells at Royal Antwerp, Sunderland, Ipswich and Blackburn since emerging through the youth ranks at Old Trafford in 2006.
The Magpies are bidding to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking having suffered relegation to England's second tier last season.

"toonster - who are these great young right-backs we have? (and I don't mean the ones on Championship Manager) Beye's gone, Edgar's gone and Taylor is liable to move into midfield to cover the loss of Duff. Simpson is a top class youngster, and would probably have been a first choice right back last season, had he not been at Man U. I think we need more signings like this to strengthen the squad."

"Not a bad signing at our level. Not sure who making the signings though considering we're rudderless??"

"Mackem Madness - funny man - great little championship plug!:( Don't have a come back really...not sure we will get out of here for a while if we sell Duff and then a couple more. We certainly need more loan signings from top clubs to help us. I see us creeping in top 6 at most, at the moment, but obviously this can easily change with a perm. manager and new/settled ownership."
