Giant Liverpool fighter David Price, nicknamed 'Dynamaite', is hoping to finally put a number of setbacks behind him to claim Olympic gold in the super heavyweight division in Beijing.
A towering figure inside the ring, Price stands as high as six-foot-eight, and he is capable of dominating his opponents inside the ring although despite his size he is still capable of moving well.
Price was bitterly disappointed to miss out on qualifying for the Olympics at the World Championships last November, when a broken left hand cost him his place in the final.
He then battled back to fitness for the penultimate Olympic qualifier in Italy only to suffer a controversial loss to David Arshba, but finally booked his place in Beijing by making the semi-finals of the final qualifier in Athens.
Although he only scraped through to the Olympics, Price will be a tough man to beat in the Super Heavyweight category in China and is amongst the contenders for the gold.
A decent footballer in his youth and a staunch Liverpool fan, Price chose boxing at the age of 14 and won the Junior ABA title in his ninth fight, before becoming the youngest ABA super heavyweight champion to date at the age of 19.
He won the Commonwealth Confederations tournament in Kuala Lumpur in 2003 but lost at the following year's European Championships against Italian Roberto Cammarelle - a defeat which cost him a place at the Athens Olympics.
Price bounced back from that disappointment to win his second ABA title in March 2005 and further success came his way at the Commonwealth Games when he beat Welshman Kevin Evans to take the gold in Melbourne.
After a third ABA tiyle Price then took the Commonwealth Championship after stopping Australian Daniel Beahan, and he was well on the way to World Championship gold before injury.
It also robbed Price a chance of revenge against Italian fighter Cammarelle who denied him a place at Athens, as he was waiting in the final before Price's broken left hand intervened.
Now healthy, and desperate to make up for lost time, Price will be a dangerous opponent for the big boys of boxing in Beijing.
