George Burley believes the idea of a Great Britain team competing at the 2012 Olympics in London remains a non-starter, certainly where the Scottish FA are concerned.
The Scotland manager is against the idea of an all-British team competing in four years' time as he believes national identity is crucial going forward.
The SFA have previously stated they would not prevent a GB team playing in London, although they would stop any Scottish players from taking part in the tournament.
"It's been black and white from day one with the SFA," explained Burley, who has confirmed the SFA's stance has not changed.
Nationality
"The national team comes first and at the moment we are keen to keep our nationality intact.
"We have to have a national Scottish team and we can't put that in jeopardy so there has been no change.
"That's the key for us. That we still have a Scottish international team, not a British one to play in World Cups," he added on Sky Sports News.
"A British team could jeopardise things and certainly that's what the SFA is worried about."
It has been suggested the winner of a home international competition represent Britain at the London Games, but Burley does not believe there is room in the schedule for the possible matches to even take place.
"That's all hypothetical," he continued on the home international tournament idea.
"The problem with international games is getting dates for them so it doesn't even come into the equation."
