British gymnast Dan Keatings finished a respectable 20th in the men's individual all-round final, as China scooped another gold medal.
The 18-year old is tipped to be a medal prospect for the 2012 games in London, and while he was never expected to challenge for a medal in Beijing, he showed glimpses of his potential in Beijing.
A solid start saw Keatings, who won four gold medals at the European Junior Championships in May, move into third place with a score of 15.8 in the vault.
Lower scores in the parallel and horizontal bars saw the Corby-born youngster drop to 20th, falling a further place as he recorded a score of 14.850 on the floor, thus an overall total of 59.3.
However, the following event, the pommel horse, is the Huntingdon Olympic Club athlete's strongest and he moved up to 17th with a score of 15.7.
And while a disappointing final display on the rings saw the teenager fall during his dismount, with the judges marking him down to 14, the European junior champion wound up in 20th with a final score of 89.
