Christine Ohuruogu is delighted to have become the first British woman to win the Olympic 400m title, adding to her world title she won last year.
She produced a storming finish to overhaul the favourite American Sanya Richards, who only finished third behind Jamaica's Shericka Williams.
"I'm very happy now that I have got three gold medals from three major championships. Nothing can spoil that for me," Ohuruogu said.
"I had a race plan but it went out the window. I was in my own world. People said 'Did you know Sanya had gone off very hard?' but she was in lane seven and I couldn't see her.
"All I had to work off was the Russian girl outside me who I knew would go off very hard and at 200m I was annoyed with myself that I had left myself too much work."
American Richards , who looked good in the heats, went off too fast in the final and paid the price. She blamed a hamstring injury for tying up down the home straight.
Contemplated quitting
Just two years ago Ohuruogu was contemplating quitting athletics after a 12 month suspension and Olympic ban for missing three out-of-competition drug tests. The ban was later overturned due to "significant mitigating circumstances".
"I don't really care what people think or say, they can say what they like," the 24-year-old said.
Asked if anything could spoil her victory of becoming the first British woman to win the Olympic 400m title she said: "No, why should it be spoiled? I'm very happy with what I've done."
"I have come here and got what I wanted and I'm happy."
