Isn't it great watching finals with British athletes in whether they win or not. Usually by the finals there is very few home countries representatives. We have had loads to cheer on during these games in a lot of different sports. It's just brilliant.

I get ribbed all the time about English sports living in South Africa...cricket, rugby (oh, the memory of the 2007 world cup final)...and now, I have something to gloat about. South Africa doesn't have one medal to it's name (at time of writing) and we are cleaning up. Way to go to all the athletes, you really do us proud. I've been left with tears in my eyes to see Team GB up on the podiums time and time again, listening proudly to the national anthem.

Being a brit abroad and working with kiwis and aussies the sport topic is always tough, im on my way to work tonight with my head held high chuffed to bits that our athletes are finally giving us supporters what we crave........ medals. Well done to our olympians youve made your country proud of who we are again....

As a long suffering (Ashes 2005 & RWC 2003 aside) supporter of everything British here in Australia, it's fantastic too see Team GB doing so well. The whingeing from the Oz media has already started i.e. GB are only good at sitting down sports like rowing, cycling and sailing! They can't even make the joke about the only time British supporters can see the Union Jack during the Olympics is when the Aussies win a gold medal! C'mon Team GB!

Team GB 3rd in the medal tables! It's unbleivable. Thank goodness for lottery funding. The teams success is making an ex pat cry with pride. Well done to every British competitor (medal winners or not).

This last week and a bit has proved that with Longon being granted the olympics in 2012 british sport has had a much needed boost and we are seeing the fruits of London 2012 even at this early stage. There are some sportsmen and women who just went to get experience and are already winning medels and it is not behond the realms of disbelief that we will finish 3rd in the final medels table. The lottery has also had a major impact on our medel haul. It is a shame that our athletes will not come home with a lot of medels but i have even seen some improvement on that front. The biggest improvement in british sport has come in swimming where we now have a double olympic champion and the thought of great success in 2012. I am proud to be british once again and seeing the british flag flying on the centre flag pole cements that feeling

congrats to team GB on their success so far the target by the B.O.A was 35 medals only 10 to go it shows what faith our goverment have in them we still have more cycling sailing and other medals to go for i reckon we will end up with over 50 keep it up guys your doing your country proud

I think Daley Thompson must be up there as one of the greats. He compete in the Decalthon, and for years had to pull out personal bests in a wide variety of Track and Field Events.

This just proves how successful GB can work when they work as a team. This has been such a wonderful weekend 11 gold, third over all with only China and USA ahead of us. We are a tiny island and we are third. This is due to the dedication of these sportsmen and women. Never have I been shouting at the TV so much as I did this weekend. I am so proud of them all, its great to be British. Well done to you all, you have made your country proud.

Who is Glenn Beckett anyway?? You are the only person in this blog to mention your desire to having an England Olympic team. Check the golds and other medals obtained by Welsh and Scottish competitors. They are all British and working hard to reach the same target to ensure these brilliantly dedicated sportspeople come back with what they deserve no matter where they hail from in the UK.

What started to be a very bad day for me this Saturday finished leaving me to feel proud of our great athletes in Beijing especially our boatmen to say they put there heart into it was a understatement I was worried that there heart would burst at any time with the work load that they put into the race,it's a pity that our government couldn't spend a little money on helping our young to do these things like most other countries instead of wasting money in so many things that they do best.Government take note what we could achieve if you helped our young athletes.
