I agree 100% with Wayne's comments. As a retired Referee I watched the Olympic Boxing with special attention being paid to the scoring. The number of times I saw a positive scoring blow being awarded to the wrong boxer was a regular event. A boxer was being awarded a point when he did not even strike his opponent. I saw points being awarded when boxers were not close enough to strike each other. In one bout I saw two points awarded to a boxer on the canvas from a slip. Some referees cautioned boxers non stop for various reasons and there was no public warning. Other referee's gave out public warning and had not gave out any cautions previous. The standard of Referee at this years Olympics was not good. The China boxers were given points for just punching in the direction of their opponent. A lot of the judges were what is commonly known as homers. Wayne was one of the greatest amateur boxers to wear an Irish vest. Not only is Belfast proud of him, boxing fans are equally proud of him in the whole of Ireland

i totally agree im a huge boxing fan, and i was watching a fight this morning, the final of the flyweight division between cuba and thailand! i have to say the thai boy was running away with it, but the cuban did hit him a few good times and never got scored!! he also hit off with good combinations too, whats the point if you are not alowed to throw combos, it becomes literlarly a waste of energy and also could ruina potentially exciting fight

I agree totally. We saw the same nonsense in the scoring of the taekwondo today in the match between Sarah Stevenson and Chen Zhong. Again the judges have to press buttons within a second of the blow and Sarah had a body shot and a clear head shot ignored by the judges. Luckily the worlds TV viewers saw more clearly so the Chinese officials had to reverse their decision, but it makes you wonder how many other travesties of justice have occurred with this ridiculous system.

Hi I do agree 100% with you, another thing that bothered me on the sports at Beijing was the Taikwando (sorry about spelling) where it was a bronze medal fight with a 17 year old GB athlete and his dream was snatched from him in my eyes in favourtism because he was facing a chinese person, the final score was 4-1 and the 17 year old was crying because it was an unfair desision due to the fact he was put down to minus 1 for two minor penalties which should not have been given and he should have got 2 points for a kick to the fact which was not given and two points for another kick which was also not given he was only given 2 points after being on minus 1, it was given in the final round after the chinese person was on 4 points he got to 1 point. His dream was snatched because of China holding the olympics. It makes me want to say how about London cheat in 2012 see how everyone else likes it. China are first in the Olympic medals yet four years ago it was USA they are cheats. I used to love the olympics and now I barly watch it. The only good thing now is Athletics and Swimming because you can see who touches wall first in swimming and who gets around the track first. Bring on 2012.
